Ideas

I started with three basic ideas for the title of mystery and imagination, I thought of revealing artchanging its image would be including these tittles. The second idea I had was through producing a book filled with knowlegde and facts of mysteries or a magical themed book.

Development of ideas

Here I have explored many famous magical stories and mystrties of the world and the theroies behind them.

Development

Developing my ideas I have decided on a factual interactive book about famous mystries of the world; such as the Bermuda Triangle, Area 51, and Jesus.

Case study

The next stage I took was looking at already exsiting artists designing a simular product to my idea. keri smith is an ideal artist as her books interact with the reader and gives them optional choices.

Experiments

Here I have started experimenting with different Medias. Fine liner and water gives the images life and movement with in them.

Using ink I created thick and thin bold lines which out lines a clear picture for the reader and allows the reader to customize the book in their own way. I have discovered ink is very easy to move around on the page and with the right equipment can create detailed images making the book more interesting to younger eyes.

Experimenting with Mono Printing I have discover the many effects it can have. i like the red mono printing as it has more texture in it but if feel the black thin lined mono printing would be more suitable for a colouring in book.

With lino printing I created great colourful effects which would be eye catching for the reader. I risked the image of them by experimenting with the different layers of ink added slightly moved to give a unique difference. I also experimented with the ink mixing colours together and applied white cut out letters on top to make the title standout. I love this effect of the colours mixing but would like them bright so I will try a different a different media.

For my final designed I will use ink for two of the pages and mono printing for another. The ink pages will include the Bermuda triangle and are 51. With the hand drawn images I will reconstruct them on the computer using Photoshop. I will use two simple colours, black and white, on the inside of the book letting the reader become creative. I will use a different media for the page exploring Jesus and his miracles. Using mono print makes this page seem more original and adds more texture and culture to this page allowing the reader to feel more evolved.

plan

This will be my planned idea for my final product. It includes the images used and the layout of them and information.

Mock up

This is a mock up of my exam piece. From this mock up I can now see what improvements I will need to make to improve my final product. I have used ink for the front cover instead of the mono printing ink as it has a bright effect against the bold dark title. I will lay the texts out in a diferent way to make them appeal more to the reader. I will adjust the font and the front cover to make it more appealing to the reader.

Final Piece

This is my final design finished professionally. It has taken on some similar features of Keri smith’s "wreck this journal" and "wreck this box" through its bright colours and use of hand drawn images included in the book. I struggled to a line the pages and print them off with the correct page on each side of the paper. I felt the designing of the book was easy to design getting the reader involved, influenced by Keri’ s work and motivation.
